Gifts

It's lovely to be able to give a gift that you have put time and love into. Here are a few that I made and gifted in 2007.

For my niece.

For my nephew.

A wonderful friend.

A donation quilt.

One Fabric ~ 3 Quilts

Our small patchwork group attended a workshop in 2007 to learn how to create a kaleidoscope quilt from one fabric. We followed up with an exhibition in the local art gallery.

Once all my hexagons were laid out, I wasn't happy with some of the colours fitting together so I separated them and created 3 quilts ... all from the 1 fabric which I have used as a border on the larger quilt.

Loving the effect, I have since purchased more fabric and the book 'One Block Wonders, Encore' for some time down the track.

Bags of Bags

Time to do some updating here at Kalliwa ... first I had to find my way back in because I'd forgotten my login details :)

Going back to 2007, I attended a Shaggy Bag workshop and after that made 5 more bags for gifts. I forgot to take a photo of one for my SIL but here are my original (centre) plus 4 others.

Back later with some more finished from 2007.

Old Jeans, New Life

After purchasing a box of old jeans at a clearing auction, I cut out pieces 6 1/2" x 3 1/2" and layed them out in a brick wall design.

I added a border down the sides and across the bottom with a pieced block in the corners and it fits a single bed. No wadding as the denim makes for quite a heavy quilt. I even added some pockets and keepers for looks.

Flannel Lap Quilt

I purchased the fabric for this at a closing down sale. The borders had been precut for a kit and weren't required. So I worked backwards from the border and designed the blocks to fit within.

It's lovely and toasty in winter.

Country Shirt

We were given a choice of making a shirt or quilt at our next workshop.

As you can see, I decided on the country shirt with applique roosters, hens and chicks. It even involved a little bit of pattern alteration. Absolutely loved this shirt!

Jolly Santa

With Christmas Time approaching, my next project was this red work wall hanging. A few of the girls in our craft group made one also.
